How did you find out about Tokushima University and why did you decide to enroll in Tokushima University?

I Found Tokushima University from Prof. Niken, she was head of international affairs of Faculty of Dentistry Gadjah Mada University. I decided to choose Tokushima University because it has a scientific field in line with what I am developing, namely periodontology and Prof. Nagata as my supervisor is a figure in the field of periodontology in japan.

 

How did you prepare for the entrance exam to Tokushima University?

Before going to Tokushima, I took a the 6month-course in Japanese language and culture in International School of Japanese language Tokyo, Japan, then at Tokushima University I became a research student for six months, I learned a lot about various research topics and research methods.

 

What kind of research did you do while you were enrolled at Tokushima University? Could you please share any difficulties you faced in your research? Also, when you had difficulties, how did you overcome them?

I did research on calprotectin, which play a role in the immune system of periodontal tissue.
Instructions for use of laboratory equipment are written in Kanji letters.
Ask for explanation from other researchers/ seniors.

Please tell us about your memories of Tokushima and Tokushima University during your stay.

Tokushima is wonderful city, with a typical Awa-odori Dance, and a regular festival is always held every August. The people are very friendly and almost every week we interact with the general public to learn Japanese culture. My children also attend Japanese kindergarten and elementary school.
Memories of Tokushima University, besides the complete research facilities, lecturers and senior who patiently taught me, I learned a lot about culture related to independence, discipline, and precision. One thing that we hold on to until now is the belief “If you take action, it will become/ Naseba Naru”.

 

What was your impression of Tokushima and Japan?

Tokushima and Japan are extraordinary cities and countries, with a safe, comfortable life , a clean environment and well maintained public facilities

 

Could you please share with us the details of your current job?

Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry (2022-2026), Gadjah Mada University Indonesia, Lecturer of Periodontology, Researcher, Dentist, and Certified Dispute Mediator and Trainer at the supreme court of the Republic of Indonesia, Assessor of Indepedence Accreditation institution for Health Colleges (LAMPT-Kes), Chairman of The Indonesian Dental Faculty Association.

 

Please give a message to those who will be enrolling at Tokushima University and those who are considering enrolling.

Tokushima University is a university that has complete facilities and infrastructure, lecturer and mentors are very diligent and patient in teaching us about research and publication, besides that there are many extraordinary cultural lessons that we can get from campus life.
