The project has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan "Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS) FY2024 Regional Core and Distinctive Research University Strengthening Promotion Project."

The project proposed by Tokushima University has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan "Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS) FY2024 Regional Core and Distinctive Research University Strengthening Promotion Project."

 This project is implemented by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and aims to form a group of research universities that will lead the development of research capabilities throughout Japan. The project supports efforts to build the environment necessary for regional core and distinctive research universities to accelerate and improve the international expansion of research activities and social implementation under strategic management based on their strengths and distinctive research capabilities.

 This time, 65 applications were submitted, and 13 including Tokushima University, (10 national universities, 1 public university, and 2 private universities) were selected.

 In this project, Tokushima University will bring together the research capabilities of the four initiatives (Photonics, Chronic Inflammation, Nutrition, and Information Science) that have been brought together at Tokushima University, and set a vision for 10 years from now of tackling the challenges of the super-aging society that the world faces, and will develop into a research university that continues to produce innovations that contribute to the realization of the Creative Super-Aging Society.
