On November 10th, 2024, the 2024 Kanto Bizankai was held at a hotel in Tokyo and was attended by 20 alumni and 14 officials and staff members of Tokushima University including President Kawamura Yasuhiko. This event is held every two years with the aim of strengthening collaboration and cooperation between Tokushima University and each alumni association in the Kanto region and further deepening exchanges among those associated with Tokushima University. This was the first time to be held since the COVID-19 was classified as Category 5. The event was held as normal for the first time in six years and was a lively affair.
First, President Kawamura gave a greeting and an update on Tokushima University's activities, followed by greetings and activity reports from representatives of each alumni association branch in the Kanto region. After a toast given by Mr. Aoyama Toshiaki, head of the East Japan Branch of the Eiyukai (the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Medicine School of Nutrition / School of Medical Nutrition), the attendees chatted with staff and other alumni from different associations. The attendees were able to talk about old memories with people they hadn't seen for a long time.
At the end of the event, Mr. Suginaka Akinori, head of the Kanto Branch of the Yakuyukai (the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences), gave a closing address, ending the event on a great success.
The participating alumni made comments such as, "As a Tokushima University alumni, I want to give back to Tokushima from Tokyo," and "Next time, I would like to invite more alumni and interact with them," and it seemed that their commitment to Tokushima University and Tokushima prefecture was further strengthened.
This year, the head of the East Japan Branch of the Eiyukai, Mr. Aoyama, acted as the organizer. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to him and all those who cooperated and participated in the holding of this meeting.
